Glass Pergola – Pembroke College, Cambridge - Commercial glazing

This stunning glass pergola was commissioned for Pembroke College, part of the University of Cambridge. The thin stainless steel sections of the skeleton frame offered no structural rigidity. It was only when the ‘water white’ Starfire panels were bonded into the structure, that by acting as diaphragms, the whole construction became structurally sound. The pergola creates a ‘stack effect’ natural ventilation for the building.

The pergola was built in our workshops in the 1990s as one piece and transported to site on a low loader before being lifted into position on the rooftop.
