NEW: Glass Bending

GlassBending_view_2

Investment in new glass processing machinery means Firman Glass Projects are now able to produce curved glass in-house and under our own quality control.

As well a new purpose designed factory and associated infrastructure including two new overhead gantry cranes, the new toughening plant includes dual bending chambers that work alongside the standard flatbed toughening facility. This new machinery represents an important development forwards for the business and further enables the design, manufacture and installation of quality toughened glass products to our clients throughout the UK.

Firman Glass Projects Contracts and Operations Manager Steven Ball says, “This new investment allows us to bring another technically demanding aspect of glass and glazing ‘in-house’ and under our full control. We are very excited about the potential of this new machinery as it means we can better help our customers achieve the designs they aspire to.”

Wine Screen – Cathcart Road

This very elegant wine room screen was installed to be as unobtrusive as possible.

We used clear silicone draught seals to help maintain the controlled temperature inside the wine room.

Victoria Beckham – Dover Street

Firman Glass Projects we engaged to design and build this technically demanding façade and entrance.

The glazing is to a very high standard of physical protection and is over 3 metres x 3 metres. The architects vision for the door was a bespoke cast concrete panel the has a design that matches the Georgian sash windows above.

The concrete door and stainless steel frame weigh in excess of 400 KGS and a special mechanism had to be installed to move such a heavy door. The install of both the glass and the door panel were carried out using our vacuum handling equipment and in the case of the door a special lifting jig was designed.

These images were taken during the install and we hope to have some architectural images shortly.
